Welcome to the April 2024 issue of our On the Trail publication. Here we highlight what the club has been up to, including rides, events, and announcements. As the snow melts from the hills, we are able to access more and more riding. Our snow pack is approx. 75% of the normal, so trails will more than likely open sooner than later this season. A good sign is after the spring freshet has passed, as this means that majority of snow has melted from the alpine.

Yesterday we went for a ride on the rail trail above North Fork Road to Fisherman’s Road and tried to do the loop around BC Mine. We made it to the mine but there was too much snow so we went to Emma Mine and Oro Denoro Mine where we had a hot dog roast. Then on to Eholt and Jewel Lake, and back to Eholt. From there we went towards Pass Creek clearing some trails on the way. I was talking with Doug about getting some equipment together to clear trails, Pass Creek would be a good one to get set up on. Volunteer your time helping Grand Forks ATV
We would like to take a moment to highlight the invaluable role that volunteers play in supporting our society. This year we have been providing roles and responsibilities to members that are interested in helping out in a specific area of the club’s activities.
Events Team – We now have a team that handles our events. This team meets on their own agenda, preparing for and being part of different events within our community and as the season progresses, events for club members.
Maintenance Team – Members are engaged in maintenance preparations for the season. Our maintenance trailer needed a good clean-out, equipment check, and restock. The group is working on acquiring new safety equipment, a few hand tools, handsaws, and loppers that are easy to access and use on a maintenance ride.
Riding Team – We are searching for members that are interested in leading rides. These members will work with the executive to ensure safety and insurance requirements are met. Host as many or few rides as you wish.
Information/Media Team – We are searching for members that are interested in creating content for our website and social media. There are tools available for the right candidate to take on this role. Expand our social media presence and promote our rides and events through the Grand Forks ATV media.
Leaders and Directors at Large – With new opportunities being created our executive committee is seeking new leadership this year. We are looking for a new President and Vice President to lead the club into the future. No need to worry, we have also created a past-president seat, that ensures the hand-over is smooth and easy. Visit our volunteering page for more information https://grandforksatv.ca/executive-committee/.
