Executive Updates

Please take a moment to recognize the efforts of the executive members that volunteer to keep the club in good standing.  Thank you to everyone on the team, it’s an enjoyable experience working with everyone.  As some of you may have heard, Doug Zorn, President since 2011 has resigned from the position as of September 17, 2024. Your executive members met on September 8 to discuss this change and what is needed to move forward.  As a result of the meeting, Randy Ellenchuk was appointed as the President, Teresa Coburn as Vice-President, Cody Zorn as Secretary, and Doug Zorn as Director of Trails and Projects.  All other positions remain the same and all can be viewed at Grand Forks ATV – About.  This temporary shuffle allows us to continue to operate and the nomination and voting on terms for the positions will take place at our 2025 AGM.

Volunteer with us!

As a volunteer driven society, we rely on our membership to drive what we do and how we do it. There are amazing opportunities to be part of a great team and community. Our group takes part in community events and maintains trails which require organization and execution to be successful.  If you are interested in joining the GFATV executive, please reach out and let us know by email to info@grandforksatv.ca.  Interested in trail maintenance and projects? Reach out to Doug. As our new Director of Trails and Projects, Doug is coordinating our trail maintenance and holding meetings specific to trail maintenance.

Events

Thank you to all the members that have offered to help with events. Members have supplied the public rides at a few events this year, supplied hours of volunteer service to organize and participate in events. If you would like to volunteer to provide a ride or participate in events, please contact Teresa.  We sure appreciate everyone’s support to make the events successful.

Project Update

Trails of the North Fork – Report October 2, 2024, to Teresa Weatherhead Director RDCK area K (Arrow Lakes). The contractor moved to the work site Sunday Sept 28, camping out at the trail head to reduce travel time. Oct 02, Grand Forks ATV (GF ATV) and Arrow Lakes ATV Club (ALC), who have both contributed to the project, were on site to look over the safety repairs completed. The crew has now completed 3.7 km of safety repairs to the trail. Both clubs were very happy with the work. Many thanks to Teresa (RDCK, Area K) for the funding to complete the safety improvements and to ALC for their hard work and funding. Thank you RDS Excavating who donated pack-up day and return to home. The importance of this trail to connect communities is tremendous. These safety repairs will allow the public to ride through the area from Edgewood to Christian Valley.
